Our History

It all started with a little girl’s dream to have a horse.. As young as Deb McGuire can remember she was drawing horses and began taking riding lessons at the age of 8. Starting out in 4-H with a young horse, Deb soon realized it was better to have a horse that knows what to do, and purchased a 10 year old Arabian. Leasing and showing other people’s horses and training became her passion. After a few years in college Deb started a 4-H club to help educate kids and their families about the Arabian horse, from there she started training client horses and teaching students how to ride and show competitively. As time passed the emphasis became the Arabian breed shows.

Performance Plus Arabians has always been a family affair, the 160 acres of land has been in the family since the 1940’s through Peggy Plooster’s father, Lee Buck. Deb’s father, Dennis Plooster, since took the acres to create the large facility that now sits on the property.

Deb successfully ran her show barn with many national and regional titles in Country Pleasure, Saddleseat Equitation, Hunter Pleasure, Hunt Seat Equitation, Side Saddle, and Western Pleasure. In October 2022 she retired from the business and now enjoys her free time golfing and visiting grandkids.
